JURASSIC WORLD (2015)

June 21, 2015 by Jacob Nelson in 2015, 4, ACTION, J, SCIENCE FICTION

6/21/2015 - Jurassic World (2015) - 4/10

What a dumb and, unfortunately, unenjoyable film. It confounds me how amazingly well this film is doing, and how much some like it. It was just so stupid, at every level. I hoped that the "meta" levels of the story elements might bring a dimension of engaging franchise-reference and poke at the big sequel blockbuster culture - nope, rather it decided to wear such elements like a badge of honor and audaciousness... Perhaps I might be able to let some of its shortcomings slide if it was fun, but it fails completely at that task. Unengaging, repetitive, ludicrous, and uninspired: apparently just what makes the box office go BOOM!... *sigh* Move over Transformers, there is a new overblown, gigantic boring cgi-fest to challenge you for your crown of "Shitty Movie Cash Cow"... On this movie's tombstone: "Made me not care about dinosaurs."
