MIRAI (2018)

2/3/19 - Mirai (2018) - 6+/10

Took a little while to get into it, as it was pretty kiddy, but it grew into itself. It was still fairly choppy with its vignette esque style, but it peppered in magical realism fantasies, childhood lessons for young ones, and thoughtful examinations on parenting/life. It developed some real poignance by being more than stock standard kids fare and a style that was smooth and added depth.

Not everything always worked for me, but it was endearing and somewhat moving, with a solid standard animation that is punctuated with CGI, watercolors and some pretty stellar complex animated efforts. A fine animated feature!
