FREE FIRE (2016)
7/1/17 - Free Fire (2016) - 6+/7-/10
A wicked good time. Ridiculous but a smashing pastiche of the gritty 70's action/crime flicks. Clever enough by half with a "just enough" stylish script. Allows for fun the whole way through, especially paired with the mayhem and mortician bill.
Everyone is engaging and pitch perfect (this swirling blend of realistically inclined and over-the-top cartoony). The score and soundtrack marvelously spices up this bullet ridden joyride, providing just the right finesse, magic and backdrop.
It has its flaws, at least in a logical sense. Flesh wounds abound, along with those infinite ammo perks. But it is so easy to get wrapped in this near-zany popouri of hearty laughs, stinging action, and eccentric characters. Nothing detracts because that embracing of all these elements is the essence of the playfulness and your enjoyment.
