LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP (2016)

October 04, 2016 by Jacob Nelson in 2016, 7, COMEDY, DRAMA, L, ROMANCE

10/4/2016 - Love and Friendship (2016) - 6+/7-/10

A winding weaving maze of formality, vaporous language, and concocted plots that consistently provides a smile (and a furrowed questioning brow).

Prim is the complete adjective to describe this Jane Austen comedy.
It is fun, in a stuffy and verbose manner. For me, it took a while to comprehensively identify the players swirling schemes. But once it clicked, I found it witty and highly enjoyable.

Certainly not for everyone and I don't think it is "funniest movie of the year", but it is a splendid sly whisper of a film, elegantly crafted and droll. There is a juicy sweet creme filling in what may look an old and unappetizing pastry. With an adventurous appetite and diligent chewing, your cinematic tastebuds will be rewarded.
