TOKYO TRIBE (2014) — Sleeper Awakened

Bizarre brightly colored voyage through the hoods of Tokyo. Like a trippy mix of Warriors and West Side Story, but with a constant bumping beat. Each crew has diff turf, diff hip hop style, diff attire.

Though the pageantry abounds, it does a good job of using the "bright lights" to show the darkness, the wretched and the unseen. Hyperreality in a live-action manga/anime style.

Mostly it is over the top Japanese zaniness. Like a Miike non-stop music video. Fun, but not super technically brilliant.

Give it the bump for having the right amount of tongue in cheek and just being bat shit nuts.
