JUROR #2 (2024)
12/21/24 - Juror #2 (2024) - 5/10
Feels like a geezer pleaser. Solid but unspectacular 12 Angry Men-lite but with more personal stakes twist lays out a premise but doesn’t really move past that. It’s well acted by Hoult who is trying to hold the attention of a script that loses tread on the backend of the film. He does a good job while Collette wavers between southern drawl cliché and the portents of pensiveness, but everyone else is one note and hollow. In fact, most of the drama is that way - a set-up for drama or delving into justice, responsibility and prejudice, but it leaves all those threads dangling. Perhaps I just love 12 AM too much but there is a progression of plot, character, and message that just goes unsaid here.
I think it might have actually worked better as a miniseries, letting things get fleshed out while a Dexter-ey cat and mouse is played for cliffhangers throughout the series. Oh well. I won’t think of this film again after this.
