Much more money and production capabilities went into this then you might generally expect, but it all shows on the screen. A tremendous and gripping recanting of the over 2 months survival epic of crashed Uruguayan rugby team in the Andes.

It all felt extremely vivid and crisply realized, with the less mannered performances of less seasoned actors and the detailed experiential setup to film from and in. It is chillingly articulated, both the cold that is trying to kill and the veracity of the spirit keeping them alive and pushing forward. It may veer into uplifting tropes towards its final act, but it had earned its power and poignancy in the previous 2 hours. A story drilled down on and fleshed out with deft skill and maximized effort.
