SHARK SIDE OF THE MOON (2022)

8/25/22 - Shark Side of the Moon (2022) - 2/10

‘Tubi original’ should probably speak volumes, but this jagged stone is even rougher than expected. One certainly anticipates mutant sharks being encountered on the moon as being poor, but I was still disappointed.

The concept is dumb, but it’s a shark movie: I’m in. Getting the starks extant and on the lunar surface is preeettttteeeyyyy dumb. But then we jump to the present day, and it gets laughably crappy. It’s not that the actors aren’t trying because I think they mostly do a fine job with what there is to work with. But with some of the action and the costumes I kind of feel a bit sorry for them. I get that they were on a budget and wanted to get out from under the oppression of standard space suits, but the stupid quotient exceeded survivable limits.

Perhaps the biggest problem in a Sea of Tranquility of problems is that the whole thing is as dull as it is daft. Some gory shark mutate murders, lunar space battles, some big ‘splosions, or just some pulse upping action scenes. There are moments that are intended as such but none of them work, especially when they are discounted by doofyness.

Straight to video shlock doesn’t need to be good but it does need to be fun.
