2/1/2016 - When Marnie Was There (2014) - 5/10

Strange and slow for a long while, it eventually grew into an interesting and lightly emotional coming of age tale. Certainly not upbeat or really that child-friendly. It did pose some real questions of emotional problems and psychological breaks, something one might not expect, but leaves to much of it unexplored to truly intrigue. It wraps up in a sweet and quaint bow, but it is an odd and quirky journey to get there, wth the payoff being a tad rushed. Well animated, but nothing awe-inspiring, with characters and plots that consistently kept you at arm's length.
